Our guest David L. Janzen at Lina’s Tango guesthouse
Staying at Lina’s Tango Guesthouse for two weeks recently was a most enjoyable experience. Lina provided a welcoming, relaxed, cordial accommodation.
The location is ideal — a supermarket (with a good selection of wines), laundry services, and restaurants are within several minutes of walking. A wide variety of shops is also within easy walking distance. Inexpensive taxis are readily available and reliable.
Lina’s Guesthouse is very attractive. Rooms are comfortable and common areas are well maintained. But the best part of staying at Lina’s is the friendship which begins immediately. She is such a gracious hostess.
Her assistant, Lujan, was most helpful — as a translator and also in providing recommendations about available concerts and events.
My main reason for returning to Buenos Aires, despite having to endure the long flights from Vancouver (round trip of more than 40 hours) was to get introductory lessons in tango dancing. The eleven one-hour private lessons at Lina’s, with Monica Pini, were excellent. At least I now know how difficult it is to do good tango dancing and have a much improved appreciation for the art of tango dancing.
Lina arranged a barbecue and dance party, with about 30 people (including several darling children), on my last night there. Everyone had such a lot of fun. It happened to be my birthday so there was a big cake and the traditional birthday song — this 74 year old Canadian was deeply moved by such Buenos Aires affection.
I recommend Lina’s Tango Guesthouse very highly!
